Brooklands Update

We met with the officials from CCBC last week in order to discuss saving the Brooklands Road Centre.

In attendance were myself, Tara Holloway Scott Robert Owen and the Deputy Chief Executive and the Head of Property Services.

We presented Community Volunteers Wales and introduced the groups and other charities that we could be working with if we had the space at Brooklands.

Both gentlemen were extremely impressed by the work we have been doing and were keen that it should continue.

However, they had some good points and challenged us with some insightful questions.

Such as:

Why Brooklands?

What sort of premises do we need? 

Are there 3 options? Save Brooklands or build houses or the 3rd option?

We have been tasked with building a picture of the type of premises that CVW and our partner groups and charities would need, and what that would look like.

We will be reaching out to each of the groups who have shown an interest in working with us in Brooklands with a view to understanding their exact requirements in order to incorporate that in a potential option 3.

There were no promises or guarantees and whether anything comes from our meeting remains to be seen.

We will continue to champion Brooklands and support the groups who are still there and those who will want to use the space.

There will be a second meeting once we have had the chance to investigate this 3rd option.
