Hello all! In my last update, I mentioned that the Bower family, who owns the Rupp House property, planned to work with the Camp Curtin Historical Society to change the monument so that it no longer honored the Confederacy or General Jenkins. The Bowers recently discovered that they own the monument in its entirety, and they made the decision to remove the monument completely. As of yesterday, this Confederate monument has been taken down! I am deeply appreciative of everyone who has supported the petition, but I am especially thankful for the Bower family for their support and their shared desire to take down the monument, despite counter-protests from people who wished to see it remain on their property. This decision to remove the monument completely has come at great expense to the Bowers. Please contact me if you are interested in contributing financially toward this expense.
