Thank you for supporting this petition for the removal of the Confederate monument in Mechanicsburg! We have already passed 100 signatures, and we are on our way to 100 more. Some have mentioned that there's not much we can do since the monument is on private property. I have since added James O. Bower, Jr., the property owner, as a decision maker along with the Camp Curtin Historical Society.

It's been an interesting revelation—some say we need to keep Confederate monuments for their educational and historical value. But for quite a few of you, this petition is the first you've heard of this monument or the Confederate occupation of Mechanicsburg. I guess these monuments are not as effective at educating people about history as we thought.
