A huge thank-you to everyone who stood in the hot sun at the protest today! We are heartened by the honks and friendly words of support from so many neighbours. We wanted to take a moment to address some not-so-friendly neighbours.

The vast majority of folks who stop to chat agree with us (and most everyone else is  neutral or respectfully disagrees). But there is a small minority who have nothing better to do than to scream misogynistic profanities, argue with us about the published accounts of residential school survivors, or inform racialized and Indigenous members of our movement that their experiences of racism are in fact, not racism. Not real. Not valid. 

We can agree to disagree about many things. Like which sushi or pizza place in the riding is best, or which political party to support.

We can't agree to disagree about this. And we won't. The folks who engage in this behaviour are emboldened by Brodie's racist rhetoric ...  they are revealing an ugly and concerning side of her supporters. 

And the thing is, it only makes us more determined. Behaving like that in front of children and neighbours who are just waiting for the bus or doing their grocery shopping? It speaks volumes.

Help us reject hate, whether it comes in the form of screamed profanities or "polite" debate about something that isn't up for debate. Please share the petition, order a lawn sign, or check out our website!
