The Mayor of London has the power to stop plans to redevelop Shepherd's Bush Market.

In December Hammersmith and Fulham Council shamefully voted by 3-2 to approve Yoo Capital's plans to redevelop Shepherd's Bush Market.

Yoo Capital's plans would push traders out of the market, overload the market with a 9 storey commercial building, and destroy the markets' diversity and character. The plans would be the end of Shepherd's Bush Market as an affordable market serving the local community. 33 traders submitted a letter opposing the plans and our community petition is nearing 700 signatures.

Yoo Capital are a multibillion real estate investment company registered in the tax haven of Jersey. Their plans are designed solely to line the pockets of their investors. Leaked documents reveal that they plan to sell the market for bumper profits as soon as the redevelopment is complete.

Unfortunately the plans were waived through two weeks later, with the Council failing to consider key evidence and objections, and council planning officers clearly in the pockets of the developer making multiple inaccurate and misleading statements.

But the plans can still be stopped. Send an objection to the Mayor and make it clear that as a community we love our market and refuse to allow it to be gentrified for the sake of a speculative financial investment.
