Call on Big Tech to Improve Financial Support for Workers Replaced by AI

The Issue

As Amazon invests billions in artificial intelligence infrastructure, it just announced plans to lay off 14,000 corporate workers—many of them long-serving employees who now face an uncertain future.

These layoffs come as part of a growing trend: tech companies aggressively replacing human workers with AI systems without offering fair support or long-term protections.

Amazon, like other tech giants, is competing in a global AI arms race. But while executives announce record profits and new product lines, the people who helped build these companies are being left behind.

We’re calling on Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and other leading AI developers to:

  • Create a robust AI Layoff Support Fund that includes extended severance, retraining programs, and guaranteed health coverage for at least 12 months
  • Publicly commit to transparent impact reports detailing how AI is affecting current and future jobs across their companies
  • Partner with labor and workforce organizations to help displaced workers transition into stable careers—not just give them 90 days and a severance check

This is a pivotal moment. If companies can spend $10 billion on data centers, they can afford to protect the workers whose jobs are being eliminated by the same technology.

AI may transform the economy—but workers shouldn’t be the collateral damage.

Sign this petition to demand that Big Tech take real responsibility for supporting the workers they’re replacing with AI.
