I am senior at South Park high school. I am trans, and have requested that my name be called at our school's graduation. This will not be legally documented and my diploma will state my legal name, I know this. I just ask that my name- the one I go by daily, and the one that I introduce myself by- will be announced. My principal has requested that I obtain two signatures, one from each parent, for the school to honor my wishes at graduation.

I can get one easily, one parent supports my identity, and wants me to be happy, as a parent should. The other, however, is a bit more complicated. It's not a possibility for me, my other parent has made it clear that they do not and will not support this part of me. 

I've told my school this, and they have decided to take it to the school board. Why? Announcing my name at graduation will make a difference of 4 syllables- but it will make a difference. By signing this petition, you can be my second signature- no matter how ridiculous it is that I need one.
