The Issue

Jewel Joyner was an accomplished young woman who was set to graduate from Trinity Washington University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology on May 17th, 2025. Jewel's ultimate goal was to become a veterinarian.

This past February, Jewel suffered a stroke while playing a basketball game at Trinity Washington University. Ultimately, Jewel passed away due to complications from the stroke.

Jewel's Family, Trinity Professors, and her fellow peers have advocated for Jewel to receive an honorary degree. The President, Pat McGuire, has stated to the press and to Jewel's family that Trinity will not be granting an honorary degree to Jewel.

We are demanding that Trinity Washington University honor Jewel Joyner by granting her and her family an honorary Bachelor of Science in Biology degree.
