The Issue

According to reporting done this week by Physicians Against Antisemitism and the journalist Toni Airaksinen, Dr. Ryan Rao at the Queens Medical Center at Punchbowl Hawaii should NOT be practicing medicine.

He can't hide. We cannot stand by and let this medical doctor to take care of our Jewish friends, and Israel supporting friends from Christian, Catholic, and even Muslim members of the US, after Dr. Rao has so blatantly expressed hopes that supporters of Israel perish.

According to Ms. Airaksinen's article, Rao has called to "delete Zionists," has said "there's no wrong way to delete zios" and said that he hopes that "Tel Aviv is burned to the ground, there's no one way to delete Zionists" over the past week.

In an interview with the PAA, the spokesperson expressed concern to Ms. Airaksinen over this doctor’s ability to take care of Jewish and Zionist patients.

“It is obvious to us that the term ‘deleted’ is a very thinly veiled way of saying killed, murdered, or erased from existence.”

"To hold views that there are some people who do not deserve to live is incompatible with the practice of medicine.”

“Sharing these views publicly and repeatedly projects arrogance, poor judgement, and an undue sense of infallibility,” said the PAA spokesperson.

If you believe that Jewish families in Hawaii deserve to feel safe while receiving healthcare, regardless of whether they support (or are presumed to support Israel), please consider signing this petition.

It has been three days and the hospital and his employers have not responded to calls about the doctor, though some employees have expressed shock and concern, saying they didn't know about the issue. Voicemails have gone unanswered to various departments.

It is unclear if Dr. Rao has made more antisemitic statements since locking down his Facebook profile last night. His LinkedIn account has also disappeared. Please call upon Jason Chang of the Queens Health System, the new CEO, to investigate this issue for the welfare of Jewish people and Israel allies in Hawaii.

(6/21/2025): It has been over a week since Dr. Ryan Christopher Rao made his horrendous comments about wanting to "delete" people who support the existence of Israel. He has not publicly commented, nor has his university on this issue. He remains in silence; he deleted his Facebook account but has not yet apologized or released a statement.

It is astounding that the Queens Medical System has not yet dealt with this issue. Christian and Jewish patients deserve to be able to feel safe when they visit. We are witnessing a silence by the QMS that reveals more about our fears as Jewish people than any confession might.

It is deeply disturbing when a medical professional — who we trust with our lives —engages in or expresses antisemitic beliefs. Such prejudice not only violates the core principles of medicine but betrays the trust placed in those who vow to do no harm. This has no place in any profession, least of all in one dedicated to healing and humanity. Those who dismiss this because "Zionism is not Judaism" just haven't had Nazis come attack them yet.

Please remember that Dr. Rao didn't call for just "Zionists" to be "deleted." He also called for Tel Aviv to be "leveled"... since 1909, Tel Aviv has served as a port-city for the area; it is now home to nearly a half million Jewish people. Should a healthcare professional wish for the death of half a million Israels? In what other context would this be reasonable?
