In response to not voting for a ceasefire in Gaza on 15th November 2023.
Email: shabana.mahmood.mp@parliament.uk
Dear Shabana Mahmood,
I have noted you have abstained from the ceasefire vote in Parliament on 15th November 2023.
Like yourself I was born and bred in Birmingham, and I felt you would have represented your constituents more honestly and strongly in voting for a ceasefire.
Thousands of innocent civilians have lost their lives in Gaza, Palestine and without a ceasefire thousands more now will be threatened. Numerous humanitarian organisations have called for a ceasefire to end the horrific suffering, which includes the United Nations, the World Health Organisation, Oxfam
and Save the Children.
I am extremely disappointed in your stance in not voting for a ceasefire given the immeasurable suffering which has occurred and will now continue occurring in Gaza.
I have noted several of your colleagues, including eight shadow secretaries have resigned in order to vote for a ceasefire because they understood the importance of standing up for what is right.
Please outline your reasons for not voting for a ceasefire. This will heavily impact whether you will be voted for again in the next general election by your constituents in Birmingham Ladywood.
Kind regards,
