By Atlantic Beach & Neighbors and Coalition of The Civic Associations of The Barrier Island & Long Island, NY,
Our spectacular group, Atlantic Beach and Neighbors, of the community, Beautiful Long Island, scored a few wins recently. Still waters run deep. We are not sitting on our laurels while you wait. Work is being accomplished behind the scenes. Even more progress is underway to be announced...
With your support, our two petitions garnered attention from media attracted to our cause. The first is to cause the Nassau County Bridge Authority to rescind the excessive toll hike and the second, to make their activities and financials completely transparent. First, 5 Towns Central, then Patch, and Newsday's Herald. Now awaiting the big guns, Newsday!!
Next our eyes are set on TV coverage to expose the deception that the toll hike was justified and that there was no regulation to change the NCBA.
You can help to advance our cause and bring awareness to the media and our local politicians who made this problem possible. Just share both our petitions like heck to social media and by text, email or tweet. Copy the links to the petitions.

Well, we have an answer to our burning question...IS THE TOLL HIKE JUSTIFIED? DO THEY ACTUALLY NEED THE EXTRA INCOME???
A RESOUNDING...NOPE!
Finally, some smoke has cleared. It's all in their 2021 and 2022 financial statements. Just don't be fooled by misrepresentations of expenses or the excessive payments for employee benefits. It's time to put the pedal to the metal.
Kudos to our group's rock stars. Amil, Barry F, Barry R., and others soon to be inked here, thank you! Bravo! Hats off to Elissa and Fran for being all in vocal and into the process.
As we push forward, there is much to be done, but incremental achievements have brought hope that we are prevailing in moving the needle on what seemed immobile, and a hopeless goal. With persistence, and power in numbers, our voice is being heard...not just by the public, or media but by our local regulators who can no longer maintain invisibility or silence on this matter. Our elected officials are now compelled to respond. Their constituents are yelling loudly now TOGETHER with one voice and can no longer be oppressed.
So, one of the government agencies, that has jurisdiction to handle the Nassau County Bridge Authority, has made recommendations to them based upon examination to correct the failures to be transparent on the website and posting minutes of meetings among other improvements. The agency determined that in response to our complaints that the NCBA broke laws violated other rules. Thanks to our legally saavy, Amil. Now let's see if the fully comply with the recommendations.
