Show up. Stand up. Listen up. On AUGUST 22TH AT 6:30pm (rescheduled from August 17th), at the Atlantic Beach bridge office on the end of 878, the Nassau County Bridge Authority board members are convening to discuss their agenda about operating the Atlantic Beach draw bridge, the only bridge in Nassau County that charges a toll. This public benefit company has some explaining to do as they collect more of your money from their toll increase. It is detrimental to all residents and visitors who depend on the bridge to live their daily lives. Make your presence known. It is your duty. Your public needs you.
Join your neighbors. It is your opportunity to be heard. A large turnout is expected. Together, one voice will be heard. RSVP IN OUR Whatsapp group and/or in a comment here. APPLY TO BECOME A MEMBER!
Our time has come to make change. Finally, your questions will be welcomed. Speak up in person. Our efforts are making progress. Near THREE THOUSAND PEOPLE INCLUDING BUSINESSES HAVE SIGNED OUR PETITIONS.
That was one of our first steps. Also, read the Authorities Budget Office report that confirmed that the Nassau County Bridge Authority violated the law, Open Meetings Law and other public related laws. It only took one resident's complaint with legal experience to get the ball rolling. Additional reports are awaited arising from other members' complaints of violations and unethical concerns. We expect the ABO to report if other laws or ethics were compromised or not complied with such as conflicts of interest, and Freedom of Information Law requests. No other government agency was ready or appropriate jurisdiction at this time to take the NCBA on. We tried. It is an ongoing process until all the problems are corrected and cleaned up. We do not sit on our laurels while we await the often six months it takes to receive their reports. The campaign for our cause is in progress. It is a multi step plan. Apply to join our group, if you want to get more involved.
We have the power of one. One person and another one person, etc equals one community. Each town connecting into one great community. We like to call it Beautiful Long Island comprising many groups that serve to help others, each other, such as Atlantic Beach and Neighbors. We advocate for crucial local causes. Not just talk. We speak up, speak out, together to make change.
Join us if you are passionate, vocal, and care to make a difference. Bring your brain cells. Bring your cause. Bring your neighbor.
Your presence supporting your fellow bridge-goer, at the board meeting is powerful. Your mere presence will be heard. We are the definition of POWER IN NUMBERS. Each of us leads by example. Let's make where we live the best it can be and our lives as sweet.
We deserve it. We pay hefty taxes. Embrace your neighbor. Embrace the opportunity we demanded but we're deprived of in the past. We are loud and will prevail together on this goal and future ones. Let's keep our eye on the prize.
The Nassau County Bridge Authority is accountable to us. The power of public opinion regulates them. Don't complain, speak up, show up. The time is now!
Don't waste the enthusiasm, motivation, and community effort signing the petitions and discussing our concerns then plans. This is the next step in our strategy to try to cause the toll hike be rescinded and the NCBA becomes fully transparent about how our money they collect is spent. ELEVEN MILLION DOLLARS IN ASSETS AND EARNING A PROFIT EACH YEAR BASED UPON THEIR FINANCIALS DOES NOT WARRANT A TOLL INCREASE! IT IS NOT JUSTIFIED AS THEY CLAIM. If this upsets you or stirs up questions, this meeting is for you! Hope to see you there!
Warm Regards and Thanks our cherished friend and neighbor,
Atlantic Beach and Neighbors of community Beautiful Long Island
