As a resident of Oklahoma, recent events have shaken my faith in our state leadership to the core. Our state, having endured one of the worst wildfires in its history, received steadfast support from its brave firefighters and first responders. Yet, amidst this harsh trial, Governor Kevin Stitt fired the director of the State’s wildland fire response under baseless allegations, displaying a lack of judgment and insensitivity, breaking the unity that we Oklahomans have always cherished.

Stitt’s leadership also regrettably extends beyond this instance. Under his watch, Oklahoma has not seen any significant improvements in the sphere of education, jobs, finance, or security. His erratic decisions lack substantiating evidence and are often perceived as the actions of an uninformed individual rather than those of a responsible leader. Indeed, many believe that under his guidance, the state's policies have become more philosophical than fact-based, a detrimental trend for our state’s future.

Moreover, the Cambridge Center for Economic Policy Research report in 2021 indicates that Oklahoma is only fifteenth from the bottom in terms of per capita personal income, asserting that the state has not made any significant strides financially under Stitt’s administration. Similarly, the National Education Association's annual report for 2020 ranks Oklahoma as the fifth state from the bottom in terms of total state and local school revenue per student.

As Oklahomans, we deserve leadership that upholds our unity, exercises due diligence, and most importantly, respects the sacrifice of our firefighters and first responders. The actions of Governor Kevin Stitt have shown time and again that he lacks these qualities. For the sake of our families, our communities, and our state's future, we implore our decision-makers to impeach Governor Kevin Stitt.
