Call for Sir Mark Rowley to resign as Commissioner of Metropolitan Police Service

Call for Sir Mark Rowley to resign as Commissioner of Metropolitan Police Service
The Issue
On 11th February 2025, a landmark court ruling was made by Mrs Justice Lang DBE in the Kings Bench Division of the High Court whereby she has deemed that actions lead and driven by Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley under Operation Assure* have been proven unlawful and breached Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Since then, he has made several libelous statements against the claimant officer, namely calling him a “sexual predator” - despite the claimant having never been found guilty of a criminal offence. Rowley has called him and “others like him” - police officers accused of a crime but never charged or convicted - a risk to women and vulnerable people. In the course of this attitude, he has attacked the very fiber of the British Justice System whereby the accused are Innocent until proven guilty. In reality, police officers are being treated as guilty until proven innocent.
Sir Mark Rowley’s behaviour towards serving police officers, most of whom have dedicated their lives to serving the British public with compassion, honesty, integrity and respect has lead to a dramatic decrease in officer morale & retention.
Sir Mark Rowley was appointed as Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis in September 2022 after the resignation of Dame Cressida Dick, following a spate of scandals facing the Metropolitan Police Service, most notably the kidnapping, rape and murder of Sarah Everard by serving Police Officer Wayne Couzens and the conviction of serving Police Officer David Carrick for a number of rapes.
Rightly, change in the Metropolitan Police was required to ensure that violence against women and girls (VAWG) was properly addressed, investigated and prosecuted. However, Sir Mark Rowley instead took the approach that all of his officers are guilty and used the Operation Assure process to unjustly and unfairly dismiss officers for unproven criminal allegations.
This petition is proposed to demand the resignation of Sir Mark Rowley as Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis and to allow more appropriate leadership to take over in this vital role and for the next leader to support it’s officers while simultaneously rooting out corruption and predatory behaviour in the police service.
*Operation Assure is the operation run by the Metropolitan Police to revoke officers vetting statuses & terminate officers where they have been accused of crime and/or misconduct - even if the alleged wrongdoing is never proven.
