Our petition and the safety concerns on the 3.1-kilometre stretch of Highway 16 have been featured in another news article, published on January 9th, 2025 in the Prince George Citizen. This coverage shows that our cause is not forgotten and continues to gain attention in the community.
Since returning to work and driving this stretch of highway in early January, I haven’t noticed any more deceased deer along the roadside. However, it’s possible wildlife collisions have still occurred, as conservation officers often clean up incidents fairly quickly.
I’m hopeful that as the icy conditions improve, more safety measures - such as better lighting and wildlife deterrents - can be implemented before wildlife activity increases again in the spring. Spring is a particularly active time for wildlife, and making these changes now could help prevent future collisions.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping this issue in the spotlight. Let’s keep the momentum going! Please share the petition to help us reach our next goal of 1,500 signatures. Together, we can push for meaningful change and make this road safer for everyone.
