As students of Concordia University, we are deeply disturbed by the actions of the Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR) club. They have recently claimed that Hamas's savage terrorist attacks on Saturday in Israel are "heroic attacks," and use social media to glorify the brutal, inhumane and barbaric taking, torture and rape of civilian hostages – many of whom women, children, and elderly – all while representing the University. This is not only offensive but also dangerous, as it promotes violence and hatred against the Jewish minority in our campus, community and city. Inciting hatred against a particular group, advocating for genocide, and supporting, inciting, or glorifying terrorism are all deemed illegal under the Criminal Code of Canada in Sections 318-319. It is unacceptable that a group who partakes in such actions is part of our University, let alone registered with the Concordia Student Union and receiving funding from students.

Concordia University has always been known for its commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful community. Allowing a group like SPHR to operate within our university contradicts this commitment.

We must take immediate action against this. Let's stand together as students and alumni of Concordia University against all forms of terrorism endorsement within our institution! Please sign this petition demanding that the Concordia administration takes severe disciplinary action immediately – including permanent forced closure – to SPHR and their executive committee in response to their acts of hate speech and incitement, support, celebration and glorification of terrorism. SPHR has shown their true face today and must be dealt with accordingly. They have no place in Concordia University – our University.
