Call for Judge Felicia Pitts Davis’ Resignation!

Call for Judge Felicia Pitts Davis’ Resignation!
The Issue
On Saturday, November 16th, Syracuse City Court Judge Felicia Pitts Davis refused to perform a scheduled wedding ceremony for a same-sex couple, despite having performed a ceremony for a heterosexual couple just moments earlier. Pitts Davis reportedly cited her religious beliefs as the reason.
After conferring with the couple, and obtaining additional information regarding her misconduct, the Board of Directors of CNY Pride demand the immediate resignation of Judge Pitts Davis from the Syracuse City Court. Judge Pitts Davis violated her judicial oath and disgraced the fundamental tenets of her elected position. The LGBTQ+ community and its allies in Central New York deserve far better from the judicial system than this biased and unethical judge. We call for Judge Pitts Davis to swiftly resign her position so it can be filled by someone who actually believes in the fair and impartial application of New York law.
