Call for Immediate Removal of Warden, Assistant, and Major at Red Onion State Prison
The Issue
Petition Statement:
We, the undersigned, call for the immediate removal of Warden D. Anderson, Assistant Warden Duncan, and Major J. Hall from their positions at Red Onion State Prison in Pound, Virginia. Their continued leadership has resulted in systemic abuse, neglect, and violations of fundamental human rights.
Reasons for Removal:
Inmate Abuse & Assaults – Multiple incidents of physical assault, including permanent injuries.
Oppression & Intimidation – Systematic use of fear and retaliation.
Shootings Without Warning – Excessive force by staff without following protocol.
Violation of Human Rights – Disregard for Department of Justice correctional standards.
Neglect & Corruption – Concealment of wrongdoing and manipulation of official reports.
Denial of Policy-Mandated Out-of-Cell Time – Inmates are not receiving required free time outside their cells, violating correctional policy and causing psychological harm.
Excessive Solitary Confinement – Inmates confined for 23 hours per day, often for years, without adequate recreation or human contact.
Our Demands:
Immediate removal of Warden D. Anderson, Assistant Warden Duncan, and Major J. Hall.
Independent investigation into abuse, misconduct, and policy violations.
Reforms to ensure compliance with Virginia DOC and DOJ standards, with full transparency.
Petition Recipients:
Chadwick Dotson, Director – Virginia Department of Corrections
Governor of Virginia
Inspector General, Virginia DOC
U.S. Department of Justice – Civil Rights Division
Closing Statement:
The lives, dignity, and safety of those incarcerated in Virginia must be protected. We demand accountability and leadership committed to humane, lawful, and just correctional practices.
