Let's make outdoor swimming happening

Dear Waltham Forest Swim Enthusiast,

It’s been a few years since we had the idea and met with the council about an open water swimming place in the borough. There was the idea of resurrecting the old bathing pond near Hollow Pond (Epping Forest), but there were too many hurdles, so the focus turned on another great opportunity in this beautiful borough:

There is a fantastic proposal for community-owned natural swimming ponds just off Lea Bridge Road. The East London Waterworks Park campaign plans to turn what is currently a depot into natural swimming ponds, which would bring the joy of swimming in nature to locals of all ages and abilities. They are currently crowdfunding an initial sum to get the ball rolling and purchase the land on behalf of the local community.
