Citywest is a rapidly growing community in South Dublin, and we believe the local Muslim community deserves a dedicated mosque and Islamic community centre within the Citywest area.

For many Muslim residents, attending the mosque is an important part of everyday life. However, there is currently no dedicated mosque within Citywest itself, meaning Muslim families often have to travel outside the area to attend congregational prayers, Jumu'ah, Islamic classes and community activities.

This can be particularly difficult for families with young children, elderly people, people without access to a car, and those who live further away from existing mosques.

We are calling on South Dublin County Council, local representatives and relevant authorities to recognise the needs of the growing Muslim community in Citywest and support the establishment of a suitable mosque and Islamic community centre in the area.

The Muslim community is an established and active part of Dublin's wider community. We are not asking for special treatment, we are asking for appropriate facilities that reflect the needs of the people who live in Citywest and the surrounding areas.

We respectfully ask South Dublin County Council to engage with local Muslim residents and community organisations to explore the possibility of establishing a mosque and Islamic community centre in Citywest.
