As-salaamu Alaikum my loves,

We're in deeper than we've ever been before with what is happening behind the closed doors of the Humanities Department. The department keeps saying that they don't have the funding however each student pays for these classes[50 students].

• The Dean of the department said that if the course sections were full then they wouldn't adjust Arabic classes at Sac State & they would be able to cover the funding for the courses.
• These course sections, however, were full when the Dean decided to transition these classes to Summer classes only. The heads of the department are eroding the Arabic/ Bilingual culture on campus by destroying the Arabic Department and the Bilingual Program.
• After a 25,000 dollar donation to the Arabic courses at Sac State the dean still denied funding to the Arabic courses. The head of the department refused to let anyone in the Humanities Department match the 25,000 dollar donation and allow the courses to take their rightful place in Fall & Spring Semesters.
• It took 1 year for this donation process to be addressed and ultimately it was denied in the end.
• We as the Students of Sac State need to ban together and demand that light be shed on the goings-on behind the scenes of the Humanities department & their funding before it's too late. We need transparency. We need to know why this department does not want Arabic classes at Sac State and why they are retaliating against us for wanting support.

We need to be clear... we will not be silenced. Spread this petition across all of campus and tell people the truth. Share this petition with your student orgs. & departments.
