WE ARE CALLING FOR A FULL BAN ON THE SALE OF PERSONAL FIREWORKS AND FIREWORK-LIKE EXPLOSIVES IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.

The illegal use of fireworks in several cities and towns in California, legally purchased in other parts of the state or country is a growing issue for concerned citizens of California. In some parts of the state there are nightly reports of M-80-like explosions riddling neighborhoods. These are not celebratory uses, but traumatic and terrorizing events.

Pets, U.S. Veterans with PTSD, young children and unsuspecting citizens are being exposed to repeated explosions causing undue stress, restless nights, lost sleep, property damage and physical bodily harm. California also suffers from some of the worst fires in the country and the use of fireworks has been directly linked to, or suspected to have been the cause of several fires over the years including a fire in San Francisco as recently as a week ago (6/5/2020).

In a time of already high stress due to months of isolation and well-justified civil unrest, we need to ensure that our citizenry, neighborhoods, children and pets are safe from this unnecessary and dangerous use of explosives. This will only be achieved through a complete ban on the sale of these items in the State of California.
