Cal Lutheran Class of 2020 Graduation

The Issue

California Lutheran University's class of 2020 has endured so much over the past four years. A virtual graduation is not enough, I'm calling for our graduation to be rescheduled at a time when we can come together in person and celebrate all of our hard work together.

Personally, I'm a first generation college student, I'm a double major, and I've been so highly involved and invested at Cal Lutheran my entire four years here. A virtual graduation is not enough, we've all worked so long and hard. Every year this class has had to face some sort of crisis. After this announcement, I've from a multitude of students who are also having a hard time grasping the magnitude of the cancellation of the semester's in person functions. The class of 2020 has lost their sense of security and normalcy in so many ways. We have to move out of residence halls, not see our professors or fellow classmates, not be able to enjoy all of the final events, and of course not being able to all come together and celebrate our commencement. If there's one thing Cal Lutheran can give to us is to reschedule our graduation for a real ceremony once this pandemic subsides and it's safe to do so.
