This morning California State Senator Mike McGuire, representing the 2nd Senatorial District,  joined fire survivors at the weekly District 4 Block Captains’ meeting to outline important legislative goals affecting wildfire survivors. Senator McGuire and Supervisor James Gore discussed issues of Insurance Stabilization, Grid Resiliency, Power Safety Shutoffs and Home Hardening financing. Survivors presented a memo outlining the current insurance crisis regarding ALE and the Department of Insurance oversight. Senator McGuire also shared that there have been a total of at least 350,000 home insurance non-renewals throughout the state. He called for the Department of Insurance to require that non-renewals be reported to them. Senator McGuire committed to meeting again in a round table format with survivors and Department of Insurance representatives In the near future.
