Dear friends:
A recent Harvard University study has concluded that the real number of people in Puerto Rico killed by or because of Hurricane Maria in 2017 is between 4,600 and 5,800 people.
Hurricane Maria killed at least 70 times more people on Puerto Rico than the island's government listed in its official death toll of 64, this study has found.
Who is the government of Puerto Rico working for by grossly underestimating the casualties of the Climate Change-Related Disaster that Maria was? Doesn't the government of Puerto Rico want to get help commensurate to the devastation the island suffered? Underestimating the losses just brings more suffering, poverty and insecurity to the Puerto Ricans that have not emigrated from the island after Hurricane Maria.
Let's increase the heat of our demands to all governments and hold governments like the one in Puerto Rico accountable for their irresponsibility and carelessness. Please promote this petition and act in all other ways to mitigate the Climate Change Disaster. Everything is at stake.
