Thanks to over 29,230 of you who signed this petition, a comment letter and the signatures were submitted to the CA Fish and Game Commission. The commissioners will soon see the outpouring of support to NOT approve GPS collars on hounds to hunt deer in California. The petition signing on this issue will be closed...for now. The commission's vote will be on April 14, but to be included in their "packet" (aka "Meeting Documents"), they must be submitted early, which we did. Between this petition and the many people who are emailing comments directly (fgc@fgc.ca.gov), the commissioners should realize that deer-hound hunting in California needs to be reviewed, especially for "fair chase" issues, and vote no on the GPS collars. As long as deer hound hunting is allowed with radio collars (not GPS), at the very least, hounders need to keep up and follow the hounds on foot. Our next steps will depend upon the action taken by the commissioners. You can watch the meeting live online, or later (archived), by going to www.fgc.ca.gov, click on Meetings, 2016, and scroll down to April 14 (2nd day of the two-day meeting, starts at 8 am PDST). Currently, it is the 2nd item on the agenda (#24, after "Public Comment"). After the dust settles on GPS collars, either the commissioners or the state legislature needs to consider making California the 40th state in the U.S. to ban deer hound hunting altogether. One step at a time.... Thank you for your signing and amazing support!
