Hello fellow supporters,
I am happy to report that the California Energy Commission has just released a solicitation for proposals to install DC fast chargers to enable EV travel from our border with Mexico to Oregon. I5, Hwy 99, and parts of Highway 101 are targeted. The $10M of funding available should be sufficient to deploy dozens of stations.
Proposals are due in November with awards expected in January 2016. We may not see the benefits of this effort until 2017, but eVgo and other entities are currently installing fast chargers throughout or state. I think that the CEC will roll out the funding as quickly as they can given the rules they have to follow to ensure that our taxes are well spent.
Thank you for your support, and I hope that you are as happy as I am to see this response. I am declaring our petition a success, and you can find the details of the new solicitation here (the first one in the list is a good place to start): http://www.energy.ca.gov/contracts/GFO-15-601/
