I am part of a growing national movement created to diversify corporate boards and leadership positions within California companies. I’m writing to ask that you take steps today to disclose the number of women in leadership at your company.

Women hold just a small number of corporate board seats. In 2012, of the 2010 Fortune 1000 companies, 15.6% of corporate directors are women. But consider this: women comprise about half of the total U.S. workforce; over half of all managers are women; women are responsible for almost 80% of all consumer spending; and there are over 10 million majority-owned, privately-held, women-owned firms in the U.S., employing over 13 million people and generating over $1.9 trillion in sales.

It’s time to disclose the number of women who serve in leadership positions within your company.

Today I’ve joined with thousands of women across California to call for companies to release the number of women in leadership positions. 

My colleagues and I will be watching closely to see how you take action on this critical issue.
