Famous economist, an alumnus of prestigious JNU, Dr. Prasenjit Bose, famous neuro physicist Dr. Sumit Nanda along with their fellow activists are under judicial custody. Famous social activist Samiran Sengupta is also arrested. They are arrested because they went to Birbhum to protest against open cast coal mining project at Deucha Pachami which has severe ecological and other consequences.

We are demanding an unconditional release of them and proposing a constructive meeting with a multidisciplinary team of scientists to ascertain the project's environmental and human cost and potential benefits.

তাঁদের অপরাধ তাঁরা পরিবেশ এবং আদিবাসী মানুষের জীবন জীবিকা ধ্বংস করে দেউচা পাচামীর ওপেন কাস্ট কয়লা খনির বিরোধিতার বার্তা নিয়ে উপস্থিত হয়েছিলেন বীরভূম জেলায়।

আমরা সকলে তাঁদের অবিলম্বে মুক্তির দাবী জানাচ্ছি এবং এই কয়লাখনির পরিবেশ বান্ধব এবং জনগনের স্বার্থবাহী চরিত্র নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষে বিশেষজ্ঞদের উপস্থিতিতে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করার প্রস্তাব রাখছি।
