DO YOU LIVE IN QUEBEC?

If so, you are likely contributing to the fossil fuels industry. Through the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, your Quebec Pension Plan contribution (an automatic payroll deduction that you can't opt out of), some of your hydro bill, and any taxes you may pay on alcoholic beverages are being used to fund the oil and gas industry. Created in 1965, CDPQ today manages more than $270 billion dollars, primarily from retirement funds and insurance plans. Last year, 16.2 billion of this was invested in the oil and gas industry. We the public are holding the CDPQ accountable for how they use our money. Given the impact of the fossil fuels industry on the climate, on water and on Indigenous communities, we are demanding that CDPQ make a commitment to:

1. Withdraw all their investments in fossil fuel companies (companies that are primarily involved in the extraction or sale or transport of fossil fuels) within three years.  

2. Immediately refuse to fund any further fossil fuel infrastructure.  

 3. Affirm the sovereignty of Indigenous peoples and their rights to free, prior, informed consent, which includes the right to refuse resource development on their territories, and to not invest in companies that are infringing on those rights.

Tell the CDPQ that you do not support their investments in the destructive oil and gas industry!
