CAG Public Safety Petition to Support Secure DC Omnibus Bill

The Issue

Urge D.C.'s Mayor and Council to Support Secure DC Omnibus Bill

Residents, visitors, and business owners across DC are increasingly the victims of violent crime. The city saw more homicides last year than any year since 1997, along with a surge in carjackings and vehicle thefts.

Georgetown, a neighborhood treasured for its historical significance and vibrant atmosphere, is similarly facing an alarming surge in criminal activities. The community has seen a notable rise in thefts and violent crimes such as carjackings and assaults.

These incidents not only threaten public safety but also create a climate of fear across the District. This situation is unacceptable for a community that serves as an example to other metropolitan areas across the U.S.

We urge immediate action by the DC Mayor and Council to pass comprehensive legislation to address this city-wide safety crisis. Councilmember Pinto's Secure DC Omnibus is a step in the right direction. DC Council needs to move expeditiously to pass it.
