Thanks very much to everyone who has taken the time to sign and support this petition. I'm very pleased to announce that after negotiations with Cadent Gas, they have stated that they are not only looking at different designs of safety barrier but will be working closely with The British Hedgehog Preservation Society, to gain greater knowledge of hazards to hedgehogs. Cadent Gas will also be working more closely with The Wildlife Trust as part of their bio diversity plan. Although new barriers and/or practices will not be implemented overnight, I believe that the company is now taking the plight of hedghogs seriously and will work towards a better way of protecting them from hazardous excavations. I therefore feel it is appropriate to claim a 'victory' in the circumstances. Once again, thanks to everyone who has signed and shared my petition.
