Following on from my many communications with Cadent, I feel that some progress is being made. Cadent Gas is looking into a new design of safety barrier, that will not have a gap at the bottom, to prevent hedgehogs passing underneath and falling into their deep excavations. 

This is of course great news. However, new barriers will take time to design, manufacture and implement, so in the meantime, I have urged Cadent to cover as many holes as possible. They do supply their workforce with large heavy boards to cover holes but it appears that do not have sufficient boards to cover all excavations.

Therefore, please keep signing and sharing this petition. Also, please email Cadent and urge them to press on with implementing a new type of barrier as quickly as possible and to provide their workforce with enough boards to cover EACH and EVERY excavation at night. Thank you for your support.
