Good evening ... Massive thanks to everyone who has signed my petition to Cadbury to NOT BAN the Creme Egg advert showing two men sharing a Creme Egg ... I have some news. I contacted Cadbury's press office (Mondelez International) to make them aware of this petition and to try and find out if there were plans to keep / remove the advert, especially as the other petition to ban it has received more than 65,000 signatures, and they made it clear to me that there are NO PLANS to remove the advert whatsoever! Their full response was: "Cadbury has always been a progressive brand that spreads a message of inclusion, whether it is through its products or brand campaigns. We are proud of our Golden Goobilee advert which celebrates the many ways that everyone can enjoy a Cadbury Crème Egg. To illustrate this and showcase the joy our products bring, a clip of a real life couple sharing a Cadbury Creme Egg was included in the advert." When I followed up this response for a more definitive answer about the advert's future, they said: "Thank you for your reply. We have no current plans to remove the advertisement." While it could be argued that the ad's removal was always a very, very, very distant possibility given the circumstances, I still feel that it was important to counter the 'ban it' petition with a collection of voices to simply declare that 'love is love.'
