The people of Cape Verde are being abandoned by a government that does not prioritize health or the lives of its citizens. Hospitals are falling apart. Basic resources are lacking. There is no adequate medical transport between islands for emergencies, and healthcare professionals are left without proper training or support. The result? People are dying unnecessarily. Families are being destroyed. Citizens live in fear of falling sick because in Cape Verde, getting sick often means preparing to die. In October 2024, I lost my mother to MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE in a public hospital. A woman who walked into that hospital ON HER OWN TWO FEET and left in a coffin because the system failed her at every level. My mother died not because her illness was incurable but because no one cared enough to check on her, treat her properly, or even show compassion. Today, my father almost lost his life for the same reasons. He went to the hospital TWICE, was sent home both times, and nearly died. Once again, because the doctors are not properly trained, because the hospitals lack resources, and because the government DOES NOT CARE.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------O povo cabo-verdiano está a ser abandonado por um governo que não prioriza a saúde nem a vida dos seus cidadãos. Os hospitais estão a cair aos bocados, faltam recursos básicos, não existem transportes adequados entre ilhas e os profissionais de saúde não recebem formação nem apoio suficiente. As consequências são trágicas: vidas perdidas, famílias destruídas e uma população que vive com medo de adoecer porque sabe que, se isso acontecer, a morte é muitas vezes a única saída. Eu perdi a minha mãe em Outubro de 2024 devido à NEGLIGÊNCIA MÉDICA num hospital público. Uma mulher que entrou pelos seus próprios pés e saiu de lá num caixão porque o sistema falhou em todos os níveis. Hoje, o meu pai quase perdeu a vida pelo mesmo motivo. Quantas mais pessoas têm de morrer para que o governo acorde? 💔
