Uber, Ola, Rapido: Sensitise drivers & offer affordable rides to the Persons with Disabilities 

Recently, a cab driver refused my ride because he did not want to be responsible for a person with disability. I book cabs through apps almost every day for my commute. But my journey is nothing close to being seamless. There have been times when I have been discriminated against because of my blindness. I know I am not the only one. Hundreds of my fellow citizens face this. Sign my petition asking Uber, Ola and Rapido to sensitise their drivers and offer cab rides at affordable rates for persons with disabilities. 

If cab rides are easily available, accessible and financially viable, it will go a long way in ensuring many like me are not hesitant to book them, whether it is for an emergency or for our daily commute.
 
Few months ago when I had booked a cab to go home from my office, my booking was rejected by the driver after he asked me if I had “any personal problems”. I was taken aback because he told me my login page showed I had some “physical problems”. I was also alarmed by the fact that the driver got to know about my disability on his login page. 
If cab rides are made affordable and drivers are sensitised, it will ensure that people like us are not in for such a shock. A customer will have the option of choosing such a discount. 

Sadly, discrimination and prejudice against persons with disabilities continues to be commonplace. App-based cab aggregators have extended assistance to persons with disabilities in the past, be it in the form of ferrying such passengers for free during elections, employing them or introducing accessible vehicles. 
Millions of Indians use app-based cabs every month. Imagine the number of persons with disabilities who can make use of this facility. 

Please sign my petition so that Uber, Ola and Rapido take note and makes cab rides affordable for persons with disabilities. Driver partners should be sensitised so that no person with disabilities is discriminated again.
