Dear supporters, It's June 6. I been away for a week gathering information and petition signatures. I spoke with an employee of CalTrans District 3 out of South Lake Tahoe, CA. to find what they do in regards to scanning dogs and cats killed on highways. This division of CalTrans picks up deer and bears only. All cats, dogs, and small animals are picked up by El Dorado County Animal Services, even on highways. I then spoke with EDC Animal Services. They will pick up a cat or dog, scan for microchips, contact the owner, and put the pet in a freezer until the owner retrieves the pet. I'm sure there are multiple options for those CalTrans districts that do pick up cats and dogs. Whether CalTrans works with a local animal services or they scan for microchips, a change needs to be made. Thank you all supporters. Keep this petition alive.
