Anualmente, circulan por el mundo cerca de un billón de bolsas de plástico.

En los últimos años, las autoridades públicas europeas han manifestado su preocupación por el problema causado por estas bolsas y, tras varios debates, el Parlamento Europeo ha solicitado la reducción del 80% de estos residuos para 2019 y una meta intermedia de al menos el 50% para el 2017.

En México necesitamos una ley para reducir el excesivo consumo de las bolsas de plástico a nivel nacional, especialmente las bolsas que son regaladas en los supermercados.
Cobrar por proporcionar bolsas de plástico es la manera más rápida y ágil de conscientizar a la población y educar para evitar el uso indiscriminado del plástico no reutilizable.

Las tiendas deben estar obligadas a ofrecer a sus clientes bolsas de papel reciclado o elaboradas con material biodegradable, por cada una de las cuales deberá cobrarse, una acción pensada con el objetivo de fomentar la reutilización entre los ciudadanos. Esto reducira las grandes cantidades de plástico que contaminan nuestras playas, parques, espacios públicos. Asímismo los establecimientos deberán garantizar las fuentes de trabajo para las personas que generalmente se dedican a empacar los productos.

El gobierno debe apoyar e incentivar a los fabricantes de bolsas de plástico, para que reorienten su producción hacia la fabricación de bolsas reutilizables, de la misma manera deberán penalizar a los establecimientos que sigan repartiendo bolsas de manera indiscriminada.

Las bolsas de plástico son dañinas para el medio ambiente, y sus partículas pueden introducirse en el agua y en los alimentos.

Para tí que estás leyendo esta petición, comienza reduciendo tu consumo de bolsas de plástico y dile no a 5 bolsas por semana; es decir, 20 bolsas al mes; 240 bolsas al año. Convierte ésto en un hábito e incrementa el número de bolsas ahorradas paulatinamente, en tus manos está también cambiar el mundo.

We demand for the creation of a law in order to reduce the excessive use of plastic bags and its implementation in supermarkets.
Every year, there are around 1 billion plastic bags in use. This is equal to 15% of the world’s population.

In recent years, public European authorities have expressed their concern for the problem caused by these bags, and after various debates, the European Parliament has asked to reduce by 80% this waste until 2019 and as short-term goal by 50% until 2017.

In Mexico, we need a law to reduce the excessive use of plastic bags on national level, especially for the plastic bags that we get for free in supermarkets.
To ask to pay for the plastic bags is the fastest and easiest way to create conscience among the population, and to educate them to stop the unlimited use of plastic that is not bio-degradable.
Shops should be forced to offer their clients bags made of recycled paper or biodegradable material, and for each of them should they be asked to pay for them, an action which has the objective to foster recycling among citizens. This will reduce the big quantity of plastic that is contaminating our beaches, parks, and other public spaces. At the same time, the shops should guarantee the jobs to the people who in general wrap the goods for the clients.

The authorities should help by motivating producers of plastic bags, so that they reorient their production to the manufacturing of reusable bags, and at the same time they should penalize businesses that continue to distribute the plastic that is not bio-degradable.
The plastic bags cause great damage to our environment, and its particles could enter our water and our food.

For you, who is reading our petition, start by reducing your use of plastic bags and say no to 5 bags a week, this is 20 bags a month, and 240 bags a year. Change this habit and increase the use of reusable bags.
