Let’s take this campaign to the next level

Hi Everyone
Thank you for signing this petition; we’re almost at 2000! We would love to reach this goal by Wednesday 28th April – please keep sharing with family, friend’s, community boards, social media Instagram etc.

This petition has to be officially submitted to Council on April 29--but we can keep going til May 13...

Research for the Community Strategic Plan undertaken by Byron Shire Council clearly showed that community sentiment wanted ‘low rise and low density’ when it came to development in the shire. **Developers have previously submitted plans to push the 11.5 metres to 14.05 metres...

The more people who sign it will tell the Councillors that HEIGHT is still an important issue, just as important as Byron Baes

Unfortunately:
* higher density does not equate to social housing (we need NSW GOVT legislation).
* increasing the height limit does not mean a better building – for proof see Mercato.
Another story means a race for a beach view and a building boom for landlords and developers.

Important Dates
April 29 – the petition needs to be submitted to council to consider it at the next planning meeting.
May 13 – the Planning Meeting where the zoning/height changes will be up for discussion at Council Chambers in Mullumbimby.

There are a number of ways you can view, participate or attend Council Meetings. Please view this link for further details:

In the Byron Shire Community Strategic Plan: ‘Our Byron Our Future’
1.       The main feedback was to keep it small: with a balance for locals & tourists, a need to manage growth and change whilst protecting what we have: ‘low rise and low density’

2.       Coming a close second – was that there is a lack of trust in Council decision making and that ‘there should be, at least, a clear explanation of the ‘why’.

➨ Leave a comment if you have feedback or are interested in speaking at the planning meeting; we would love to hear from planners, architects, business folks who have a viewpoint to express.
*See the link for the greenest shopping centre that Byron Bay was promised and go see IRL what we got.
