Our Community, Our Zoning

The Issue

We all love the city of Burlington, its human-scale, its architectural charms, its lake views, air quality, and quality of life. And we all cherish Burlington's tradition of democratic community participation in decision making processes. The zoning changes required for the proposed Town Center (mall) redevelopment project not only would allow a 14-story structure in the downtown core, but would contradict years of good-faith public input into a community vision for the future of Burlington, and create a precedent for other out-of-character developments. Therefore, please sign our petition, reading:

OUR COMMUNITY — OUR ZONING

We the undersigned do not support major changes to our zoning regulations tied to the Devonwood Investors project, such as increasing the building height limit from 65 to 160 feet to accommodate buildings of 14 stories or more (ZA16-14).

Any redevelopment of the mall property should proceed according to the current zoning which was developed by community consensus.
