Dear all,
Thank you all very much for participating in the petition. BUPA has announced this week prior to to the Private Health Insurance Ombudsman review that they will not go ahead with removing the Gap Payment Scheme, meaning that BUPA patients can still elect to use their private health insurance in public hospitals without being 'slugged' the gap between the scheduled fee and the costs billed to patient. Which also means that they will continue to help fund public hospitals this way as a result. This means you can elect to choose your own specialist in a public hospital without being billed extra. This is a huge win for all Australians who have private health insurance and in general in enhancing the public health system.
Yours sincerely,
Jason
