We had a very productive Spring Semester doing outreach in the community. Our 2nd Global Fruit & Fragrance Festival + Terrarium Making had more people and more fun! We gave everyone a taste of mango, dragon fruit, jackfruit, guava, goldenberry, and a dozen more exotic fruits from around the world. Along with the fruit, we offered spritzes and little samples of fragrant natural essential oils, bergamot, ylang-ylang, tangerine, citronella, lime, mints, and many more.
Everyone could get creative, make, and take home a miniature terrarium with Belle palms, Zebrina vines, moss, lichen, twigs, bark, and colorful or quirky accent stones.
The three ring circus of sensory experience showed the vision of the future Biodome, sharing greenery and tasty Fruit Walks & aromatic Sense Hikes.
We did Science Nights at Kinawa Middle School and Bennett Woods Elementary School. At the elementary school, we provided scented felt fruit cutouts the kids could put on our coloring book page of the Biodome fruit forest. For the middle school, we gave out butterfly, reptile, and safari animal stickers, while sharing the Biodome info with the older kids, and getting more petition signatures from the community.
Ian (VP), Raymond (present President) and Phillip (Director) did an WDBM 89FM Impact campus radio podcast interview which you can listen to here. https://impact89fm.org/130202/podcasts/news-podcasts/exposure/exposure-student-biodome-project-3-22-2026/
By invitation, we were included in the TEDx MSU gallery doing a petting zoo lab with our rosemary bushes for the attendees. Here is Raymond, Raed, and Taha, manning our table in between waves of engaging people during the intermissions.
We shared stickers and info with students at the Resident Hall Association Seasonal Spring Showcase, which highlights partner student organizations for more visibility and support.
We had a fun time sponsoring the Sierra Club’s overnight Earth Day with many other groups!
The busy semester came to a close with our VP Ian graduating. At the farewell party he received our tricolor Honors Cord as recognition for his enduring contributions to moving the Biodome forward. Thanks Ian!
