Petition for Safe  Baby Boxes in Winnipeg

 

We respectfully request the establishment of Safe  Baby Boxes in the City of Winnipeg to offer a secure and anonymous option for parents in crisis who feel they cannot care for their newborn.

 

Currently, Winnipeg does not have any Baby Boxes, despite their success in other cities worldwide. These Boxes provide a compassionate, last-resort alternative, allowing parents to safely surrender their child without fear of judgment or repercussions.

 

Each Baby Box is monitored 24/7 by trained staff and equipped with a silent alarm, which notifies volunteers and caregivers immediately when a baby is placed inside. This ensures that every surrendered baby receives prompt, life-saving attention.

 

By implementing Safe Baby Boxes, Winnipeg can:
