Hi Scarborough Resident,

I just wanted to send you all an update and a Huge Thank You!! for getting involved and signing our Petition for Scarborough's Town Square!...and also to tell you a little bit about the group that's running this Petition.  'United Scarborough - Residents Action Group', (currently accessable via facebook)...we started with a small number of concerned but ambitious residents at the very begininng of our local authority transfer from Scarborough Borough Council to North Yorkshire Council because we quickly realised we were going to have to raise our voices a tad louder, if we are to be heard at a centralised unitary authority, miles away from the borough and couldn't just pop into our Town Halls' Public Gallery anymore. The groups' intended focus is to tackle the many outstanding issues left still to deal with on planning/development, assets and services for our Town. We have grown  into a collective voice of nearly 500 active residents in just the last 2 months and have initiated direct contact with our new NY Council and so far the feedback we have received back has been positive. We already have 2 current serving Councillors and 3 ex-Councillors who have joined the fb page voluntarily and who are observing and might I even be bold enough to say, starting to listen to the residents wishes!!!  So if you'e on facebook please take 2 minutes to look US up and join in with our positive actions for Scarborough, the greater our numbers means a stronger local voice and better chances at successful outcomes! So, this Petition is our first, of what will hopefully, be one of many 'positive actions' that we will be asserting upon our new Council as a collective and United Scarborough and it's gained nearly 300 signatures in 'less than 1 week'!!!  We also have identical paper versions of the Petition, which will be accessable to all, with our active group members and they will be available to meet and chat on one of our in Town sessions (see fb page for details of where and when). Our Town Square has the potential to create so much positivity and economic growth for Scarborough's Town Center and with your help, We Can make this happen!!!...Thanks You All Again, please keep sharing the Petition, talking about the group and our projects with other Scarborough Residents, Scarborough fb groups, friends and family and keep doing what your doing folks!!! It's Working!!!...We have a real opportunity to do Great things for Our Town and make a difference, your signature and your involvement counts!!!✌x
