I am 10 and I have a strong love for making change. There are so many reasons we need to build more homeless shelters. I won second place in state public speaking talking about ending homelessness. And even though a speech is good, a petition is even better. I want to have a strong argument and the more signatures I get the more change is heard. A single signature could put a roof over someone's head. 

There are 43 homeless shelters in Australia, but it's estimated that more than 100,000 people are homeless. Can you imagine living on the street? Not having a warm, safe place to go to after school or work. Many people don't realise just how important it is to have a home. 

If I get enough signatures I will send a letter to the Australian Government, proposing my idea and writing about everyone who supports this change. If change is made this could significantly impact a persons life. It all starts with you.

Why is this change needed? 

Many people have no food, clean water, shelter and friends and family and believe it or not, homelessness can happen to anyone. We all make mistakes, but we need to give everyone a second chance. 

Who would support this?

Salvation Army, Vinnies, Australian Red Cross, Homelessness Australia and many other companies that know how dangerous and impactful it is to be homeless. 

Some families are homeless, kids as young as 1 week old. It's a human right to have food and water and shelter, one sign is supporting human rights.
