In the town of Burnsville NC, there is very few physical activities and places for older teens to go. Most of the parks and play areas are designed for younger children. Quite some time ago there used to be a skatepark in Burnsville, however it was poorly made out of wood, uncared for and over time the weather caused the wood to rot, eventually being torn down and replaced with an outdoor working area, which I rarely see being used. There are several foundations and programs that are dedicated to funding and designing skateparks, a few are listed below;

I believe that a skatepark would be perfect for Burnsville as it would make the town much more approachable and appealing to the older kids and skaters, providing them a place to go to hangout with people who have a similar interest as them. Skate parks aren't just great for skateboarders, but kids who ride scooters or even BMX bikes could take advantage of this park. Skateboarding means a lot to me as it pushes me to take risks and to face my fears. I think skating can be a good past time for anybody because it puts into an uncomfortable situation that encourages positive growth and self confidence, after beginning skating I have never been more confident in myself.

We need somewhere to go to encourage teenagers to be more physical and social with their peers. So build a Skate Park in burnsville
