I have lived in Cropwell Bishop for over 10 years, and have since had two children who are now 4 and 6 years old. We thoroughly enjoy living in the village and all of the events and facilities available to us here, however, I do strongly feel there is something missing from our village. As a family, we often have to travel to other villages to use skate parks, as unfortunately, our village lacks these facilities, leaving many parents like myself yearning for a social hub where a diverse range of ages can gather, engage, and positively interact without the need to travel. 

Presently, the options for leisure and community engagement within Cropwell Bishop for older children and teenagers are lacking, leaving them with limited choices for physical activities and social interaction. This lack can lead to stagnation in community spirit and even contribute to antisocial behavior.

Skate parks have such a number of benefits to the local community. Not only do they actually help to reduce anti-social behaviour and social exclusion, they also have a wide range of benefits for children, ranging from physical fitness and motor skill development, to having a positive impact on confidence and concentration. Skateboarding GB has also reported that “New research has shown a striking correlation between people who skateboard and their improved mental health.”.

With Cropwell Bishop growing and evolving, the timing is perfect for such a development. We are looking to get the development of a skate park topic raised for discussion within the local parish council. It would really help if you could join this petition to show your support for idea to help us try and take the next steps in this proposal.
