Build a Pump Track in Havant for Our Community

Build a Pump Track in Havant for Our Community
The Issue
We, the undersigned, residents of Havant and the surrounding areas, respectfully request that Havant Borough Council consider the development of a pump track within our local community.
Purpose of the Petition
A pump track is a purpose-built circuit of rollers, banked turns, and features designed for use by bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and even wheelchairs. It provides a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment for people of all ages to enjoy outdoor physical activity.
Why Our Community Needs a Pump Track
Promotes Health and Fitness: Encourages children, teenagers, and adults to engage in regular outdoor exercise.
Safe Space for Riders: Offers a designated area away from roads and car parks, reducing the risk of accidents.
Youth Engagement: Provides a positive and healthy outlet for young people, reducing antisocial behaviour and promoting community spirit.
Inclusivity: A pump track can be designed for all skill levels and abilities, including adaptive riders.
Community Cohesion: Creates a shared recreational space for families and individuals to connect and enjoy outdoor activities together.
Suggested Locations
We propose that the council considers suitable public land such as:
Havant Park, a central and accessible location already popular with local families and young people.
Bidbury Mead Recreation Ground, which offers open space and good links to nearby neighbourhoods.
Or any other appropriate council-owned green space that can safely accommodate the track.
All of these potential sites are well-used community spaces that could benefit from an additional recreational feature encouraging healthy, active lifestyles.
Community Support
Residents of Havant and surrounding areas have shown strong interest in having a local facility like this. Other nearby councils, including Portsmouth, Chichester, and Petersfield, have successfully developed pump tracks that are well used, well maintained, and highly valued by their communities.
Our Request
We ask Havant Borough Council to:
Investigate the feasibility of building a pump track at Havant Park, Bidbury Mead Recreation Ground, or another suitable council-owned location.
Engage with local residents, schools, and youth organisations to identify the most suitable site and design.
