Build a monument to honor Sporus in Rome

Build a monument to honor Sporus in Rome
The issue
I've seen too many young boys and girls subjected to exploitation. This monument is crucial to breaking a corrupt cycle that has persisted for over 2000 years. It will serve as a solemn reminder of the heart-wrenching past and an urgent call to action for the abuses still happening today. By creating a monument in Rome dedicated to Sporus, we honor not just his tragic story but the stories of countless individuals who have suffered under imperial, political, or celebrity abuse.
Sporus was a 15-year-old boy in ancient Rome who suffered unimaginable exploitation. He was compelled to embody Emperor Nero's deceased wife, subjected to degrading performances, and endured severe sexual abuse. Tragically, Sporus died by suicide in 68 AD upon discovering he would face further public torment, rape, and execution.
Beyond acknowledging Sporus's suffering, this monument aims to shed light on the ongoing abuse inflicted by those in power. Political figures and celebrities continue to exploit their status to manipulate and abuse vulnerable individuals, both in historical contexts and in today's society.
Rome stands as a city steeped in history, and placing this monument there would signal a resolute stand against the abuse of power throughout the ages. It offers hope and a platform for solidarity, ensuring no victim's story is forgotten, and catalyzing a shift towards accountability and change.
We urge decision-makers, artists, architects, historians, and empathetic citizens to collaborate in this effort. The monument will not only honor Sporus but empower all survivors of abuse and remind us all of our collective responsibility to combat and prevent such tragic stories from repeating.
Please sign this petition to bring attention to the need for this significant tribute, advocating for awareness and change in how we remember and address abuse throughout history and today.
