The Issue

The Sweetwater, FL community lacks a much-needed Cultural & Performing Arts Center. Many residents of Sweetwater lack access and exposure to cultural and artistic events. While Sweetwater is home to FIU, beyond the beloved school grounds, a local artistic desert exists. Therefore, the Sweetwater community is deprived of the enriching, both cultural and economic benefits that a Cultural & Performing Arts Center would provide. Numerical evidence suggests that communities flourish when the arts and artists are nourished, supported, and integrated.

Following the demolition of the Li'l Abner Mobile Home Park, a substantial amount of unoccupied, buildable land will become available. This newly available terrain presents an opportunity for the city's leaders to fund a Cultural and Performing Arts Center that fosters creative prosperity in Sweetwater, just as the Westchester Cultural Arts Center has for its community.

Building a Cultural & Performing Arts Center will elevate the city of Sweetwater, Miami. Furthermore, it will help create jobs and increase foot traffic for local businesses.

The city's leaders must take swift action to allocate some of the former Li'l Abner Mobile Home Park's vacant land and ensure that Sweetwater continues to grow and prosper in a meaningful and lasting manner.

Please! Build a new Cultural & Performing Arts Center in Sweetwater, Miami, Florida!
